Mumsnet Motivation To Lose Weight
In terms of initial motivation eat your elephant in bite size chunks rather than thinking of it as 5 6 7 stone to lose by x date work towards it in manageable goals with realistic timescales congratulate yourself when you get there and set your next target it stops it being quite so overwhelming quote
Acrasia wow well done on your weight loss that was a really lovely post op one thing i ve found that has helped me is making something a habit you won t always be motivated it s just not realistic but if you made say exercising twice weekly at set times or meal planning on a sunday a habit you are more likely to stick to it

I m 60 and it s for the long haul nothing has worked in the last 15 years as i lose and gain the same 30 lbs in fairly extreme dieting juices intermittent etc it s got to be long haul found peoples focus and achievements on this thread inspiring my motivation isn t health especially though carrying an extra 20 30 lbs can t
Sometimes it s worse to set yourself a goal not to do something that it is to set yourself a goal to do something especially if you enjoy it also remember to be kind to yourself and not too hard being off kilter a few days or couple weeks isn t setting you back to square 1 my motivation is feeling good
I took up running built up to running everyday 10k walking every day 5k logged food exercise on fitbit and ensured a calorie deficit between 500 to 1000 calories basically cut previous sized portions by halves and added in more non starchy veg or salad to fill the rest of the plate to achieve the deficit quote
Especially good if the reward is fitness related new yoga mat or pants new water bottle or trainers etc or a fancy bath foam or salts you can also start adding fitness goals i just realised you are only 1lb away from your first stone plan a really good reward when that pound comes off and stays off for one week
I have always been a medium ish size used to be an 8 10 now am a 12 after having dc and almost no time to go to the gym i am not careful to what i eat i don t eat much junk but eat big portions and snack a lot and am struggling to find the motivation
The exercise helps because you look more toned and trim quite quickly so i feel better and look better without actually losing much weight and it helps me achieve net calorie deficit and it s motivation as i see what i look like in that damned swimming costume three times a week
No eating between meals no sweet stuff except one treat at the weekend plenty of water no bread at lunch time avoid ultra processed foods and i 39 m religiously sticking to a moderate exercise regime 45min hilly fast sweaty dog walk every day need to walk him anyway plus 15 20 mins of yoga or weights quote
