Will I Lose Weight In Boot Camp

Will I Lose Weight In Boot Camp

The term “weight loss” is bandied about by many diets and eating plan books, social media influencers selling skinny drinks. Sandra, you used to go to school with who now wants you to join her juice cleanse group and every other Tom, Dick and Harry who wish to take your money to help you see those numbers drop on the scales. Promising a miracle but more often than not leaving you frustrated, discouraged and feeling like a failure.

A) You see the dial on your scales move backwards and your weight drop, but you look essentially the same as before. You don’t feel much different in yourself – in fact, your new diet is so boring and restrictive that you’re tired all the time and ready to bin it off after a week!

How

B) You weigh a similar amount (give or take a few pounds). Still, you can fit into clothes you thought you never could; your confidence soars as you notice people giving you double takes down the pub. You find you can keep up with your kids (or grandkids) as they run around the field with a football.

Weight is, to be reductive, literally how heavy you are. It encompasses all you physically exist as – water, fat, bones, air and all the squishy bits in between. Your weight does not, in its simplest term, reflect your health or fitness. That is to say, how able you are to cope with life’s daily movement demands without injuring yourself. Strength, speed, flexibility and the like, or how likely you are to ward off conditions such as heart disease, high cholesterol or diabetes.

Whilst slimming clubs run by Janet down at the community centre can be influential, many people benefit from them. The weight you might lose will be a combination of fat, muscle mass and water. You’ll see the numbers on the scales drop, but what you won’t see is an improvement in things like muscle tone, muscle definition or cardiovascular output. We all want our flabby bits to be a bit less, well, flabby, don’t we? And to be honest, given the option, I’m confident most of us would prefer to feel better and more active. Instead of feeling like a slave to Janet’s scales and treating one finger of a Kit-Kat as a wild night’s snacking.

Good nutrition incorporates all the things your body needs (carbohydrates, proteins, fats, fruits/veggies) AND a solid increase in activity weekly. The increased activity involves weight-bearing exercise as well as cardio. Get this right, and you’ll start to reduce your body fat whilst simultaneously maintaining and/or building lean muscle.

Lost 140 Pounds. Going To Marine Corps Boot Camp In January!

Get it out of your head that lifting weights will make you bulky – that’s not the case (and actually, building muscles is tricker than you might think). Having lean muscle will give you that “toned” look, but here’s the added magic – the more lean muscle you have, the quicker your body burns fat, even at rest!! Burning calories whilst watching a movie, anyone?

So, when you join us at Bootcamp UK, you’ll increase your weekly activity. Chucking barrels about, wiping mud off your face and having a laugh with the rest of the group as you collectively hate burpees. You may not see a dramatic change on your scales to start with. However, start thinking a little more about what goes into your mouth when you’re not at Bootcamp AND start to really enjoy your sessions with us. You might begin to notice some other excellent indicators that you’re moving in the right direction.

Are your clothes feeling looser? Have you dropped a dress or shirt collar size? Are the leggings you bought to start off with now getting on your nerves because they keep falling down? Try and be guided by your body shape changes rather than what the scales tell you – they only tell a portion of the story.

Meet just a few of our members who have made a positive change and are still enjoying the Bootcamp UK way of life 😁💪I want to brag about this fine little lady right here! Kimberly is my PRIZE student in Strong Healthy Woman Boot Camp in Battery Park, NYC. She  has dropped a whopping 45 lbs and 5  pants sizes, and she’s only getting started!

StrongHealthyWoman

KIMBERLY:  Overall I have dropped 45 lbs and 5 pants sizes! But the BIGGEST change (besides my outer appearance) has been my mindset and viewpoint on life. I’ve realized that if you dream big and you work hard at it, you will achieve it!

KIMBERLY: I started this weight loss journey because I needed a change,  I needed to let go of the past and start to write a new future, which I did, so I don’t have a specific weight I want to be or  a certain size that I want to fit into ……my ultimate goal is just to be happy, be healthy, and live to the fullest =)

Body Boot Camp 8 Week Program

KIMBERLY: By cultivating my self discipline, and not even making it an option to skip out on exercise. With a super busy schedule I have made huge changes by prepping my meals in advance so that I won’t stray from my healthy eating plan. AND when it feels like I just want to give up (which happens sometimes!), you have instilled in me that I must constantly remind myself of WHY i started this journey in the first place!

KIMBERLY: All in all I have found a peace within!… which has allowed me to excel in relationships with all people (co workers, family, friends.) With this happy attitude that I present to the world, nothing seems impossible!

KIMBERLY: I train 5-6 times a week, sometimes twice a day.  Since I work late often, I stay focused by doing 3 days of Boot Camp with you, although I am NOT a morning person so just getting up for this alone is a huge feat! I know that it’s the AM or never,   so I put all excuses aside and just go for it!  On the other days (or sometimes at night again if I am feeling energetic) I go to the gym to do weight training, running or cardio.  I will also mix it up with spin or if I missed a day throughout my week I will try to just squeeze it in during the weekend! This works for me because I used to have zero focus on what I was doing and would just randomly go “workout” and see no results.

Weight Watchers: 15 Minute Boot Camp Series (dvd)

KIMBERLY: is not like a typical class where you follow a typical boring workout routine. Every session I’ve learned different & effective ways of training that is actually fun and does NOT involve a TREADMILL! The encouragement and motivational support from your fellow boot campers and you Laura has helped change my entire view of what I am capable of achieving. It’s not about the weight loss, it’s about getting stronger, faster, and more HEALTHY! (The weight loss is just a nice side effect of all of that!)

KIMBERLY: YOU CAN DO IT! I have tried to lose weight my entire life and it wasn’t until I joined this progarm and got honest with my self about what needed to change, that I began to take massive action and see results! DO NOT GIVE UP. Ever. Your bad days are just lessons for what you need to work on and improve tomorrow. One foot in front of the other and stay positive!Kwabena Miller’s world changed when another driver ran a stop sign and ran crashed into the side of his van. The door crumpled into his arm and shoulder; the 44-year-old transit driver from Knoxville, Tenn., would need three months of recovery, as well as medical leave from his job.

“Those three months were tough!” he says. “I previously had been a regular gym-goer, but I became a couch potato, fell into bad eating habits and lost a sense of structure in my life.” His motivation vanished. His weight hit 234 pounds; his body fat percentage reached 24 percent. He even had to start taking blood pressure medication. He felt like he was in a rut, just counting down the days until he could get back in the gym.

Weight Loss Camp Success Stories

Finally his doctor cleared him to begin working out—which just happened to coincide with a Gold’s Gym 12-Week Challenge. He figured it was just the motivation he needed to get back into shape. He started taking bootcamp classes and found them unexpectedly challenging. “I got my butt kicked, ” he says. “I realized that I couldn’t have trained this hard on my own.” His trainer took into account his age, designing an over-40 regimen that split his workouts, kept him from getting injured, and provided longer recovery periods.

He worked out twice a day, and in 12 weeks, he lost 52 pounds. His body fat dropped from 24 percent down to 10.5 percent. “I haven’t been able to have a six-pack in a while, even before my accident and working out, ” he says. “However, through the challenge and my road to working out
