Can You Lose Weight In Walking
Walking is one of the best ways to lose weight and melt off inches and look after your health. The secret to getting it right is is to walk at a brisk enough pace, and within my Audio Walking Workout we focus on doing short bursts of faster walking (high intensity interval training). This is where I coach you to walk a little faster so the effort feels more challenging. These are only for between 20-40 seconds, and then we bring the intensity back down. This has an amazing effect your bodies ability to burn calories , as it produces an effect known as EPOC (excessive post oxygen consumption). So this is the really exciting bit, because by adding these intervals it means you get an after effect burn, so this is where your body burns calories at a higher rate for hours after you have finished exercising. This can burn off an extra 35 calories an hour and can stay at an elevated rate for up to 10 hours, so you can see why I get excited about this, and why weight loss then becomes easy, as that is going to be an extra 350 calories you burn off even after exercising. So now you can start to see that by doing interval walking is how you can melt off those inches.
Believe it or not, walking can turn back the clock, so not only are you losing weight but your are treating your body and will get that beautiful glow and radiance after your walk, this is simply because when we workout we help to promote the hormone that is responsible for fighting ageing, which is known as Human Growth Hormone (HGH). In our 30’s this hormone naturally starts to decrease, and the result of this is we lose the plumpness and radiance in our skin, so this is why as we age our skin texture and looks start to change! And in Hollywood people pay fortunes to have injections which contain HGH Hormone just so they can improve the look of their skin, but the good news is that you can actually re stimulate and increase this hormone, and we do this simply by exercise, as exercise increases the production of it. And especially when you are exercising regularly, your body will then be producing this hormone back into your system. What this results in is that you boost your collagen levels, so it plumps up your skin, which can help reduce fine lines, and it can give you the radiance back in your skin (whatever your age).
Pace 2 = This would be a slightly faster pace, but you would still be able to hold a full conversation on your mobile phone whilst walking, so probably the pace you would walk to bus.

Pace 3 = This would be walking at a brisk pace and you would not be able to hold a full conversation, only answer with a yes or no, and you would feel slightly out of breath! You are now on a winner, as this is the optimal walking speed you need, to melt off excess body fat, plump up your kin with that dose of HGH hormone and lose those inches.
Pace 4 = Walking so fast you are locking out all your joints and look similar to the road-race walkers, and feel so out of breath you can’t speak! Well this is too much, and you need to reduce that pace back down to a Level 3.Many people think if they need to lose weight, they need to spend a lot of money: pricey gym memberships, weight-loss subscription programs, and all organic food cost a pretty penny. But as Kim Dye proved, you can lose 100 pounds totally for free. Kim lost most of her weight simply from walking and tracking everything she ate on a free app.
Now, Kim is using her story to inspire others. On her Instagram page @100readysetgo, Kim documents the healthy meals she eats and how she stays active. She spoke to about her weight-loss journey, how she stays on track, and what she hopes others learn from her story.
Walking For Weight Loss: How Much To Walk To Lose Weight
Kim started her weight-loss journey in September 2016 at 242 pounds. At the time, I suffered from bouts of anxiety and depression and was completely sedentary, she said. My weight was truly beginning to hold me back socially and, more importantly, as a mother.
Although she didn't initially set out to lose weight, she began to walk nearly two miles every day to take her son to school. About two weeks in, I noticed my clothes were fitting looser, and I decided to step it up, she said. This progressed to three-mile walks at a trail nearby, then six-mile walks.
This increase in activity motivated her to start tracking her calories in My Fitness Pal. In the first month, she lost eight pounds. No radical diet or fitness plan, just tracking everything I ate — the good, the bad and ugly — staying within my calorie goal and walking five days a week, she said. That dramatic loss was all it took to continue what I was doing.

Kim tracks all her food in My Fitness Pal and started out eating 1, 500-1, 650 calories a day. Since diets and restrictive eating didn't work for me in the past, I did not limit what foods I ate but rather started weighing my portions and tracking them, she told . If I wanted Cheetos or chicken wings, I weighed out a portion on my digital food scale and tracked them in MFP.

She found that weighing her food made her more mindful of her eating and prevented bingeing, which made her feel more in control. As she lost weight, she started to make more home-cooked meals. Once she lost 75 pounds, she increased her caloric intake to 1, 800 calories a day. Now that she's in maintenance mode, she eats closer to 1, 900-2, 200 calories a day, depending on how much she works out.
As for her workout, Kim said she lost 100 pounds through just walking. She later joined a mixed-martial arts gym. I soon became addicted to the camaraderie of the fitness classes, she said, and started taking regular boxing and stretch classes. She's also dabbled in jiu-jitsu and Zumba and takes seven to eight classes a week with one to two rest days.

Results keep me motivated, and I feel so much better with daily movement, Kim said. Endorphins have been great for my anxiety and have for the most part replaced food when life throws me curveballs. If I go a day without movement, I just don't feel like myself.
Make a list of what hasn't worked for you in the past, and do the opposite, she advised. If you are not a gym person, walk or dance. If yo-yo dieting and restricting foods has not worked for you in the past, practice moderation or intuitive eating.

Kim also advised that while doing anything consistently will yield results, it's not feasible unless it's something you want to do for the rest of your life. Once you hit your goal, the journey does not end there, and to maintain the weight you lost, you will need to continue what you were doing to lose that weight in the first place, Kim said. Make sure those things are realistic and sustainable in the long run. Choose a lifestyle, not a diet.

Finally, she recommended finding your tribe. Support was everything during my journey, she said. She also made friends on My Fitness Pal and joined challenges to keep her accountable. She joined a weight-loss-focused Facebook group that kept her accountable and uses her Instagram to inspire others. In this internet age, there is no reason to go at it alone, and sometimes even complete strangers can be your greatest inspiration or support on your journey, she said.

But if you're doing it every single day and your body hasn't changed, you could be making one of these common mistakes. We asked experts to weigh in, and here's what they want you to know about walking for weight loss.
If you're walking every day and not seeing results, you're not burning enough calories on your walks to put you in to a caloric deficit, explained NASM-certified trainer and physical therapist Molly Canu. While many experts say to walk 30 minutes a day, that's only about 3, 000 to 5, 000 steps, depending on how fast you walk.

NASM-certified trainer Jennifer Giamo said, I usually recommend that clients get in at least 10, 000 steps per day, (about five miles) but of course if possible, more is always better! Canu said you can push that number higher and aim for 12, 000 steps a day.
