Acupuncture Help Lose Weight
The Acupuncture component of my program is the key to helping you to keep the weight off permanently. Habits are like riverbeds. Every time it rains, the water flows down the same pathway. Acupuncture effects neurotransmitters in the brain and actually forges new pathways for your vital life energy called “Qi” to flow. I use microcurrent technology rather than needles in my clinic. This enables us to target specific acupuncture points with proven frequencies for superior results. All of the acupuncture points used in my weight loss program are on the outside of the ear.
There are over 200 acupuncture points on the outer ear. The outer ear acts like a switchboard to the brain and each point triggers electric impulses from the ear, via the brain. Auricular therapy blocks messages to the brain that call for more food or eating. Other points strengthen the will power, up-regulate hormones that make you feel relaxed and satisfied. This creates ideal conditions for losing weight if you follow a reduced-calorie diet. The diet is what actually allows you to lose the weight, but auricular therapy allows you to stick to the diet much more easily then you normally would.

Behavior Modification: This is the most important part of losing weight and keeping it off and also where most other weight loss programs come up short. By changing the flow of “Qi” or vital life source, acupuncture can actually change behavior patterns and habits for lasting weight loss. Some of the points that we use are part of the NADA (National Acupuncture Detoxification Association) protocol, which was developed in 1985 at Lincoln Hospital in New York City for the treatment of addicts. The technique is now taught at Yale University School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry. Research shows that when an attempt at changing habits is rewarded by dramatic positive results, lasting change is almost 80% more likely. Losing approximately 10% of your total weight in 26 days definitely fits the criteria!
Can Acupuncture Help Me Lose Weight?
Release Endorphins: With diet changes, many people experience cravings, (although the formulas we supply will keep this to a minimum) Cravings are often due to lack of endorphins, rather than true hunger. Acupuncture will help to balance out the cravings by helping the body release endorphins and will flood the pleasure center of the brain with the neurotransmitter dopamine. Dopamine triggers reward and motivation circuits in the brain. You may not be able to feel it, but you will find it amazingly easy to stay on the diet.
Regulate Hormones: Acupuncture helps to up-regulate hormones that signal your brain that you are full, and down-regulate hormones that make you feel hungry.
Reduce Stress: An increase in the “stress hormone” cortisol can alter metabolism. Cortisol also causes us to retain belly fat. Through the release of endorphins, the “stress hormone” can be neutralized with acupuncture.
How Acupuncture Can Help Lose Weight
Increases Metabolism: Auricular (ear) acupuncture has been shown to increase basal metabolic rate and suppresses appetite via effects on the autonomic nervous system.
Improves Insulin Resistance: There is some data supporting acupuncture’s effectiveness on addressing a condition called insulin resistance, which is associated with metabolic syndrome. Altering activity of the sympathetic nervous system and possibly correcting the insulin signal defect do this.TRUTH: I am an acupuncturist and sometimes I use this protocol on myself. When I am feeling like I want to eat EVERYTHING in sight, I have to have a little talk with myself and say NOOOO!!
One day it dawned on me that if I were my own patient, I would do the appetite control protocol on ME.
Things To Know When Using Acupuncture For Weight Loss
It’s a little difficult doing auriculotherapy on yourself, but sometimes I’m so busy treating patients I don’t have time to make a personal acupuncture appointment for myself–so I figured out a way.

I use Auriculo 360 to remind me which points I want to treat. Then, I use the Stimplus Pro for treatment. Luckily, the Stimplus Pro tells me when I’m on the right point! A girl’s gotta do what a girl gotta do, right???
Of course, it takes a lot more than an ear treatment to lose weight; BUT it sure helps me get back in control when I’m having a craving. Sometimes I do a treatment just to jump start my day.
Weight Loss Successes
Patients I treat for weight loss claim they have better results than their friends who are doing the same weight loss program. Why? Because they combine acupuncture with their weight loss program.
What do you think? Have you had good success with Acupuncture for Weight Loss? Ask your acupuncturist if they own Auriculo 360 and the Stimplus Pro! It helped me to lose a lot of weight, maybe it could help you too.

In cooperation with the Hong Kong Hospital Authority, the School conducted the trial from September 2015 to October 2016 on 72 participants, comprising 13 males and 59 females aged between 18 and 68. The participants had a BMI of 25 or above but none of them had taken any other weight control measures or any medication three months prior to the trial.
The participants were randomly assigned to two groups for the controlled trial: the real acupuncture group and the sham acupuncture group. Each participant underwent a total of 16 sessions of acupuncture treatment over eight weeks. The acupoints on the abdomen include Tianshu, Dahen, Daimai, Qihai, and Zhongwan while those on the lower limbs are Zusanli, Fenlong, and Sanyinjiao. The participants also received auricular acupressure by putting Semen Vaccariae (Wang Bu Liu Xing) embedded within adhesive tape on auricular points of Hunger, Shen men, Spleen and Stomach. According to the Chinese medicine perspective, these acupoints can restore and harmonise the flow of energy in the intestines as well as transform body fluid and expel phlegm.
After undergoing acupuncture treatment, the real acupuncture group delivered a decrease of 2.47 kg in average weight and a drop of 1.56 kg/m2 in average BMI. The most successful case recorded weight loss of 7.2 kg with a drop of 3.2 kg/m

Director of the HKBU Hong Kong Chinese Medicine Study Centre and Clinical Division of SCM Professor Bian Zhaoxing is the research team's principal investigator. Other research members included Lecturer of the Clinical Division Dr Yang Junjun, Associate Professor of the Teaching and Research Division Dr Zhang Shiping, and Research Assistant Professor of the Clinical Division Dr Zhong Lidan.
Dr Zhong said that acupuncture has a stimulating effect. The mechanism of acupuncture may be that the stimulation to the serotonin and beta endorphin will suppress appetite and increase lipolysis activity, resulting in weight loss. She explained that this trial provides preliminary evidence of the efficacy and safety of acupuncture on weight control in Hong Kong. It also offers a research basis for future large sample clinical trials and a guideline for developing acupuncture to counter obesity.
